Beautiful semi-Western style building which was built as distinguished guest reception place of Bureau of Development

This building was built in Kairaku-en Garden which was the first Park of Sapporo as distinguished guest reception place of Bureau of Development in 1880 (Meiji 13). Secretary of Bureau of Development Kiyotaka Kuroda names "Mizuki Seikatei (Historical Residence)" (win, and there is Mizuki result) and is venerable building taken a break in the case of the Emperor Meiji royal visit. While the appearance is Western-style impression, in the inside, it is compromise between Japanese and European styles style that set Japanese-style room with porch beside Western-style room where big bow window spreads by the plaster coat. We were disposed with the Hokkaido Government Office setting of 1886 (Meiji 19) by private enterprise. Afterwards, after possession of preservation society organized by history of Hokkaido researchers, we were donated to Sapporo in 1933 (Showa 8). In addition, Kairaku-en Garden was made by reclamation third-ranking official Michitoshi Iwamura, and agriculture official garden, salmon trout incubation ground were established in garden and were big Park which played a role for industrial development of Hokkaido.

Five ridges star of entrance

Seikatei (Historical Residence)

Five ridges star was designed by decoration such as building, flag of Bureau of Development, and still remains in Clock Tower or Hoheikan (Historical Guest House). Seikatei (Historical Residence) has five ridges star and proves that it was building related to Bureau of Development.
